Individualized Plan of Care - every client admitted to Brazos Intensive Outpatient program will work with the clinical team to co-develop their treatment plan. It is imperative that each client take an active interest in their recovery and assist the team in identifying potential road blocks to permanent sobriety. With this individualized treatment plan, each and every client will be able to get personalized attention and ensure that all aspects of their recovery will be addressed during the course of treatment.
Individual Counseling - As part of the Brazos program, clients are provided one on one counseling sessions as needed to assist in furthering their progress in treatment and making sure that all issues, even those that are sensitive to talk about in group settings, are addressed.
Group Counseling - The primary component of the Brazos program is intensive work with the peer group through dynamic group counseling. Included in group counseling are process groups that focus on talking about our emotions and how to learn to cope in a healthy manner, as well as educational groups, step lectures, tradition lectures, and a line by line dissection of the Alcoholics Anonymous basic text.
Peer Accountability - A highlight for the Brazos program is the intense brotherhood that is created in our intense, highly accountable environment. Every peer participates in group peer accountability three times per week where we learn how to confront in a healthy manner and how it is not much what we say that is important but the movement of our feet and the direction they move that counts. While this process can be intimidating at first, peers find this aspect of the program particularly helpful as it also helps groom each client for becoming solid sponsors in the near future.
Family Support - Brazos Intensive Outpatient Program also offers an intensive, structure family day where family members are invited to spend the day at our facility and learn about the cycle of addiction, the importance of the Twelve Step program of recovery as well as invaluable tools such as self-care, working their own program of recovery and how to move forward with their loved one in treatment and recovery. In addition to this structured family day families are also kept involved through phone calls that provide updates on an as needed basis.
Life Skills - Clients at Brazos Intensive Outpatient Program are provided education and discussion on life skills. There are volunteer opportunities in the community where the clients can begin working on giving back and taking care of their community. There are multiple service opportunities in and around campus, 12 step meetings and carrying the message to other addicts/alcoholics, which is imperative to learn during primary treatment so that each client is prepared to leave Brazos and begin sponsoring other addicts/alcoholics.
Immersion in the 12 Step Program of AA - Clients at Brazos are immersed in the 12 Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous from their first day through their completion of the program. Our focus is getting each client through the steps as thoroughly and quickly as possible to provide the essential freedom that is found from a rigorous program of action and honesty. Clients attend daily Big Book lectures, step lectures, tradition lectures and how to carry the message once they leave Brazos.
At Brazos, we hold groups five days a week for a minimum of 20 hours per week. The primary focus is how we help each other recover from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body through working the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Dr. Bob had Bill W., and at Brazos you have a whole team of professionals who have gone down the same road to freedom and who will walk with you and your loved ones, illuminating the way to permanent sobriety. We also teach you how to work with your peers so that once you complete treatment you are equipped to carry the message and pass on your experience, which is vital to maintaining your own sobriety. We have a smaller population at Brazos and we are gender specific, which allows a lot of personal attention and growth to happen in the 3 month program we offer. At Brazos, you are not a number; you are a human being and are treated as such.
