If you have reached this page, you are more than likely frustrated and confused with the alcoholic or drug addict in your life. Our staff sympathizes with your frustration and feels for the pain that you have experienced. We know you have walked on a long lonely road.
Our cumulative experience in the recovery community has inspired our vision of what has become the Brazos Intensive Outpatient Program. As recovered alcoholics and addicts, we have watched friends, loved ones and thousands of others battle chronic relapse to the point of desperation and hopelessness. Watching an alcoholic or a drug addict in the depths of their addictions is confusing, worrisome, fearful, disgusting and in some cases, tragic. Families and friends are at their wits ends as to what to do. “Why can’t he just say no?” “He is such a great guy when he isn’t on that stuff.” “If they, could only see their true potential.” These frustrations are common to the loved ones of an addict in the grip of their addiction.
You are not alone. The disease of alcoholism and drug addiction affects mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers, children, etc. Each of us watch the endless cycle of addiction destroy our loved ones and nothing seems to stop their drinking and drugging. Just when things couldn’t possibly get any worse, our loved one is high and drunk again. As family members we must realize that we didn’t cause it, we can’t cure it and we can’t control it.
For an alcoholic or a drug addict to recover there are critical things that must occur if they are to re-create their lives. Becoming recovered is absolutely possible through hard work and precisely following the path that those who came before us have taken. We who have recovered from this deadly disease have found a way out. We hope and pray that your loved one of friend will follow.
Our common problem - the disease of alcoholism and addiction - has been transformed into our greatest asset. We have been given a new way of life that really works. Our own unique experience with this transforming solution is what we are here to teach. To show others the exact method to find permanent freedom from addiction is our only aim.
